RIGHTS OF TEACHERS

  • To be able to teach without interference.

  • To pursue my culture and customs, within the school’s mission and disciplinary code.

  • To be treated courteously and respectfully by parents and pupils.

  • To expect that learners participate fully in the activities of the school.

  • To expect that learners will co-operate in a disciplinary investigation.

  • To enjoy professional autonomy.

  • To have a private social life out of school.

  • To be protected and insured legally in the line of duty.

  • To make use of any type of leave.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF TEACHERS

  • To teach as competently as possible.

  • To respect the culture and customs of others.

  • To treat parents and pupils respectfully and courteously.

  • To provide opportunities for learners to realize their full potential in all aspects of school life.

  • To give every learner a fair hearing.

  • To act professionally and responsibly.

  • To uphold high moral standards.

  • To behave responsibly.

  • Not to misuse the leave available.

RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: PARENTS

RIGHTS OF PARENTS

  • To have my child be taught during every lesson period.

  • To receive a regular academic progress report of my child’s academic progress.

  • To be kept informed of the school rules.

  • To expect a balanced and constructive disciplinary code in the school.

  • To be kept informed of misbehaviour early enough to facilitate corrections.

  • To make decisions concerning my child’s subject and level choices.

  • To expect my child to have access to the best possible facilities, resources and competent teaching.

  • To have my child participate in all available opportunities.

  • To have my child be respected by others.

  • Open channels of communication without fear of any retaliation towards my child.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS

  • To get my child to school on time every day.

  • To ensure that my child can work unhindered at home.

  • To support the school in maintaining the school rules.

  • To inform the school of anything that may affect my child’s behaviour.

  • To make ourselves available for necessary discussions and actions.

  • To listen to the advice of teachers concerning subject and level choices, as well as learner competencies.

  • To uphold financial obligations.

  • To give full physical support.

  • To teach the child the basics of respect and socially acceptable behaviour.

  • To ensure correct and regular use of communication channels.

RIGHTS OF LEARNERS

  • To be taught during every lesson period.

  • To request the disciplining of a disruptive pupil.

  • To have a private social life.

  • To expect and make good use of school facilities and property.

  • To have a clean and safe school.

  • To be helped to learn self-discipline in this school.

  • To discuss any unfair treatment/disciplinary action with the authoritative person.

  • To reach my full potential (academic, sport, culture) and mission.

  • To expect assistance from the staff.

  • Individuality.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF LEARNERS

  • To attend, participate positively and follow up every lesson with further study.

  • Not to harass any individual.

  • Not to embarrass the school in any way.

  • To respect and maintain the school facilities and properties.

  • To prevent and report damage or harm to school property.

  • To learn and apply self-discipline.

  • To approach the authoritative person with respect.

  • To work hard and participate in extra-mural activities.

  • To ask and obey.

  • Respect others’ individuality.
